The Master Musicians of Joujouka Festival 2009, 5-7 June, proved to be an exploration of the music and the culture of Joujouka/ Jajouka/ Zahjouka for the guests who attended.
This slide-show captures some of the action, Mallim Ali Abdelsam El Attar, the oldest musician in the village leading the musicians in song was one of the highlights of the festival for those privileged to have seen the 100 year old Master take the lead of the ancient group.
The Master Musicians of Joujouka welcomed their guests in their homes and the village celebrated with ritual and trance.
